Once you hit level 56, you will get quests for both awakening and succession unlocks. Completion of these unlocks playstyles where you gain access to a completely new weapon on top of your old weapon for awakening and your mainhand weapon gets dialed up to 11 with prime skill upgrades (but cannot use awakening weapons) for succession. Herald, renegade, weaver, tempest, soulbeast, scourge, mirage, daredevil, and firebrand all have excellent condition-based solo builds available that can handle practically anything and deal solid damage in the process. Even berserker and druid can manage to perform quite well in solo play and still sustain and deal damage.
You can use pulls with classes like mesmer or necro to group all the enemies together for your partner to use a strong melee skill like ranger or warrior axe 5.
